The 2022 Race to Winterize |
We launched the first Race to Winterize in the fall of 2018 to prepare for the harsh Pine Ridge winter and address storm damaged homes from a severe summer storm that left windows shattered and siding and roofs shredded. In the following years we hosted over 250 volunteers, logged over 7,000 work hours and helped prepare nearly 200 families on Pine Ridge for winter.
In 2022, we focused our "Race" efforts with volunteers from D.C. to assist in fortifying a 17th century home on a sacred site on the Hopi Nation. Throughout the fall we will continue our annual push to provide firewood and other provisions of warmth to homes in the Native communities we serve. And in December of each year, we combine our winterizing efforts with a Holiday Food and Gift Drive! |
