VOLUNTEER SERVICE TRIPSVolunteer Service Trips: These trips are available to individuals, families or groups on a first-come, first-served basis in order of registrations received. Volunteer service trips may take place at our base camp in Sedalia, CO or in several Native communities in the region including Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S.D., the Hopi Nation in AZ and the Navajo Nation in AZ and NM. Service trips typically range from 4 -7 days, depending on the location. While these trips are largely focused on service projects, we always aim to incorporate a combination of recreation and cultural experiences.
Service projects may include renovating or repairing homes in need of windows, doors or handicap ramps, etc., or cutting and distributing firewood, delivering requested donations or food and supply boxes. There are sometimes also opportunities to cook for funerals that might be taking place or other service opportunities that arise organically during the trip. Projects are based on the skill level and interests of the visiting individuals. Many of these projects are done cooperatively with Tribal members. Volunteer service trips are free, As such, we provide our volunteers with ways that they may do their own fundraising and strongly encourage them to engage their friends, family and professional network to help offset our costs for offering these trips free of charge. We encourage you to set a FUNDRAISING goal of at least $750. Other ways volunteers can give back include adopting a project, spreading the word in their community or making a donation directly to Tipi Raisers. NOTES:
