VOLUNTEER SERVICE TRIPS

"Amazing non profit that applies best practices to serve, advocate and honor our Native  communities while procuring reconciliation and peacemaking. Great staff and great environment to volunteer"! - 2022 Hopi Nation Volunteer

Volunteer Service Trips are available to individuals, families or groups on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 30 spots available on each trip.

Projects include repairing homes in need of windows, doors or handicap ramps, etc., or cutting and distributing firewood, assembling and delivering requested donations or food and supply boxes. Other service opportunities typically arise organically during the trip. Projects are based on the skill level and interests of the volunteers. Many of these projects are done cooperatively with Tribal members.
PLEASE NOTE:
  • It is a 14 hour drive if driving from Colorado to Arizona, please plan accordingly.
  • Modest lodging is provided and can be rustic and without privacy.  Please feel free to bring a travel trailer, tent or RV.
  • Food is provided but if you have specific food requirements please bring what you need and there will be room for you to store it.
  • Trip orientation packet and packing list will be sent upon registration.
  • Transportation is not provided.
  • Service trips tend to require varying levels of physical labor, please communicate with our team if you have concerns about this.
  • There is a $250 cancellation fee if you sign up and either don't show or cancel within 3 weeks of the trip.
For more information, please contact Mackenzie Tilton.
engage your network
In accordance with the easing of tribal Covid-19 restrictions and continued downward trends in CDC-reported COVID-19 cases nationwide, we have made the decision to lift our prior requirement for proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results ahead of volunteer trips.

We continue to practice hand-washing and proper sanitizing protocols on trips, and ask that individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 directly prior to or during a trip to quarantine themselves until the appropriate isolation time per CDC-guidelines has elapsed.

There is no fee to attend a volunteer service trip, but we do ask that volunteers give back to the best of their ability. As such, we provide ways that you may do your own fundraising and strongly encourage you to engage your friends, family and professional network to help offset our costs for offering these trips free of charge.

Ways to reciprocate:

Collect needed building materials for your service trip.

Share a testimonial on the Great Nonprofits website to keep our  "top rated" status going!
"When a society loses the sacred - when everything has a monetary value, the commoditization of human life cannibalizes itself."
- Basil Brave Heart

In alignment with this Indigenous wisdom from Lakota elder, Basil Brave Heart, all Tipi Raiser's events and programs - including service trips - are FREE. We trust that those who join us will receive the gift that is inherent in their experience and that they will give back to the best of their ability - in this way, we can all stay in balance.
